Matthew 4:18-22
If we would look up the word disciple on the merriam-webster.com website it states; “follower of Jesus Christ in his lifetime”. It also means “one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another”. What happens when we accept, assist and follow someone? We learn his/her ways, become more like them as time goes on, and start imitating that person. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people. At once they left their nets and followed him” (Vs. 19-20). The people he called to be disciples where fisherman and farmers of the land. They had no theology background, no degrees, and they weren’t high intellectuals. They were everyday people like you and I. They lead a simple life. We are called to follow Jesus and Matthew 28:19 states “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.” Let us remember: we are to follow and imitate Christ. That means we are to influence people. We are all influenced by someone or something. Let us make the right choice and be influenced by Christ and follow Him. We are His disciples; let us lead others to the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. God loves Ya;)
