James 2:14-17
I was recently in line getting coffee when an older gentleman spilled his coffee all over the counter and floor. He and his companion jumped back and instead of getting napkins and proceeding to clean up the mess, they automatically started yelling for the staff workers to clean it up. In today’s scripture we are reminded of this: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” (Matthew 7:12). I am sure if that guy would have spilled his coffee at home, he would have immediately cleaned up the mess himself. We are not to expect others to do things we can simply do ourselves. This goes for all circumstances in our lives. In James 2:14 we are told “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?” We are to show we are followers of Christ by doing what Christ would do. If we love others as ourselves, then our first response would be to get involved and not get someone else to do our job. God loves Ya;)
