Judges 11 and 12
Why do people relate to reality TV shows so much these days? Whatever happened to The Brady Bunch, Leave it to Beaver, and of course good old Mayberry on The Andy Griffith Show? TV shows use to be focused on families and how things could be. Perhaps people today watch the reality shows that make them feel like “at least we aren’t as bad and dysfunctional as that family”. Whether what we watch on TV makes any difference in our lives or not is for another time; but we have to admit there is a shift in TV viewing concerning the makeup of families. It’s nearly impossible to find a perfect family in the Bible. Most were highly dysfunctional. Look at the first family; Adam and Eve or Noah, Issac, Jacob, King David, etc. The list goes on and on. What do they all have in common? No matter how messed up they were, God used them to fulfill a purpose. He uses our families in the same way. So we might be dysfunctional and odd, but God uses us to fulfill His purpose. So the next time you feel like your family is a failure, read this article – http://kidzblitz.com/dysfunctional-families.
