With spring teasing us with glimpses of nice weather, it is no surprise that I find myself daydreaming about camping. I love taking a weekend out of my life to get dirty; swim in a lake, go fishing, hike in the mud, and sleep in a tent. When the weekend is over, however, I am thrilled to return to my home, take a hot shower, and sleep in my bed. Getting dirty is only an occasional thing. The rest of the time I like to live a clean, prim-and-proper, predictable life. The thing is, Jesus teaches us to get dirty and stay dirty. He washes his disciples’ feet, heals lepers, and lives out of a boat. Do you think Jesus smelled good after all of that? While today, we may not get as physically dirty, the idea is the same. We need to spend our lives serving God no matter what that looks like for you. John 6:27 – “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” – Lauren Taylor
