2 Corinthians 3:4–5

True competence begins with humility, recognizing our natural abilities but acknowledging that they can only carry us so far. With that knowledge, we begin to realize that our incompetence is merely a starting point. We don’t have to be perfect; we have the freedom to be the uniquely gifted, talented and competent people God created us to be. Sometimes through our trials, we recognize these God-given abilities and how we can use them to further his kingdom. Through my past trials, I found that I had a gift of patience. This gift has allowed me to help others that most had given up on out of frustration and ultimately, a lack of patience. Elisa Morgan, president of MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) International states, “God seemed to take my deficits and make them my offering.” When God calls you into His service, remember that He has given us all special gifts that make us competent, even if you may not recognize it.
