Colossians 3:23-24
As a social worker, my job can be stressful to say the least. There are deadlines, paperwork, large numbers of people to serve, etc. Processes and regulations are always changing adding another layer of frustration and headaches. And just when it feels as though you are catching up, another referral comes in or an emergency phone call. But then I witness the changes in people’s lives and what the exhaustive efforts went through have produced. Today’s scripture reminds me that I am ultimately to be doing this work for the Lord. What may just seem as a “job” to me is actually an opportunity to be doing God’s work. If I can re-frame my thinking and see my “job” as a way to willingly and joyfully work for the Lord than it will be viewed less as an obligation and a way to just go through the motions to get a paycheck. God is good 😉
