John 8:12-20 (NIV)

As I look upon our family Christmas tree, I can’t help but think of how blessed I am. There are many legends and stories of why we put a tree with lights on it in our house in the beginning of winter. They are all up for debate but to me it is simple; we celebrate the greatest gift ever given to mankind. God allowed His Son to be born to save us. If His birth would not have happened, then there would never have been a savior that died on the cross for you and I. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world”. Every time that tree is lit, I am reminded of today’s scripture. Those lights aren’t just there to look pretty and make the tree beautiful; they are there to remind us the one that was tortured, spit on, flogged and hung on a cross to die did it for you and I. Without His birth, there would have never been a cross and we would all still be lost in our sinful nature, doomed to die. But His light shines and it shines for us; it reminds us that Christ is the light of the world and that He pulled us out of  darkness so we can live in the light with Him forever. God Loves Ya )
