Everyone in our family has a box to put special keepsakes in. When I opened my box the other day to place an item in it, I thought, “What do these items tell about me?” If someone searched inside my box, would they know that I am a Christian?
Often we give clues to others that we are Christians by crosses we wear, artwork in our homes or on our vehicles. It was unsettling for me to know that I did not have any items in my box to let others know about my passion for Jesus. I then realized that perhaps others will know that I am a Christian not by my possessions, but by my actions.
The hymn, “They’ll know we are Christians by our love,” came to mind and I felt at ease and was hopeful. I am given reassurance with 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Let everything you do be done in Love.”
As Christians we show love by: accepting others despite their differences, preserving relationships, serving, listening, and helping others. We set aside selfish ways, avoid the gossip trap, and forgive others. The list goes on and on…
How will someone know you are a Christian? They will feel the love…take action beloved! God loves ya! – Melissa Lundy
