While undergoing a kitchen renovation, I had the task of emptying out all of the cabinets. While clearing out the cabinets, I found several food items that were EXPIRED and could no longer be used. Such a waste! “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). I could have donated the food items to a local food pantry on a regular basis instead of letting them spoil.
As Christians, we are called to help and serve others, but often stand still. We don’t want to be inconvenienced. We settle into our everyday routines, therefore forgetting about the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ. In doing so the time or season has EXPIRED and we’ve missed the opportunity to be a blessing to others.
If you are uncertain how to serve, why not help others simply by using your God given talents? “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10) Look at your talents and ask yourself, “How can I use them to glorify God?”
Pray and ask God to reveal ways He would like you to serve in this SEASON. When God has spoken to you, respond to HIS call in a TIMELY manner, so your service may inspire NOT expire. – Melissa Lundy
