James 1
Nearly 80% of Nike’s running shoes are NOT worn for their intended purpose. Thus for many people, Nike shoes have become more of a fashion statement rather than a “get out and just do it” statement. This could be said for a huge majority of Christians as well. In our scripture today, James has often been identified as giving major emphasis on putting our FAITH into ACTION. The letter to James warns us that we are to be “doers of the word and not hearers only.” Understanding the truth of the bible matters little if one’s life does not conform and transform into the person you are meant to be. But I believe that Jesus came not just to prepare us to die, but to teach us how to live. Deep down we all have a hunch that there is more to life than what we have been told to pursue in our culture, another dream, another purpose. We know there is more to life than consuming all we can and trying on our own to feel good about ourselves. Through our lives of faith when we say to each other, “Just do it,” we are saying to the world, “Come and see.” Come and see a beautiful, rich, deep life where imaginations run deep and our souls laugh with satisfaction as we join the Creator in what God is up to in the world! God Loves Ya;)
