1 John 3:11-24 (NLT)
Television personality Art Linkletter once asked a little girl if she knew what true love was. She thought for a moment and then said, “Love is when your mommy reads you a bedtime story. True love is when she doesn’t skip any pages.” The same can be true about our attempt to be like Christ. We can say we love people by lip service or we can truly love people by getting our hands dirty and getting involved in their messiness. It’s easy to pledge God love in the heat of a passionate church service or an intense small group experience or an inspiring youth group rally. But true God love is helping people with their everyday struggles within this world of difficulties and problems. True God love helps those who are cold, hungry, in need of shelter, need a hug, a smile, a hand around the house, a ride to the store, an ear to talk to or eyes to see who they truly are in Christ. True God love digs in and gets dirty and yet it keeps on giving. Let us roll up our sleeves and get dirty. “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” (1John 3:18) NLT God Loves Ya 😉
