David, in Psalm 73:26, honestly records the truth when he says, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Friends, there is no denying that occasionally, many of our personal systems become overloaded and threaten to shut down. Whether it is mental panic, an emotional breakdown, a spiritual funk or maybe most commonly physical exhaustion; we have all experienced the pressures of being on the verge of “losing it”. What if, just maybe, what David shares with us is true? Even though our systems may fail, our God will never fail us and will be strong enough to handle all that we are facing daily. Here is the sticking point: We must first recognize we are unable in and of ourselves to “lift” the burdens that we are facing, while refusing to try to remedy our situation with a destructive alternative. Secondly, we need to recognize that God has provided help in our lives and submit to the support and love of the Holy Spirit. Paul explains in chapter four of 1 Corinthians that even though we feel like we are doomed, we will not be defeated. Take heart this morning in these words, “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed”. God has got this, and you and I can face today with confidence. Stay Close to Jesus – Pastor Bryce
