I have always told my children it is okay to be confident but not to be cocky; today’s verse addresses this issue. When we boast, we should boast in the Lord – not about ourselves; for everything we have done and got is from God. We should boast of God’s great attributes, of what He has done for us, of what He is still doing and of what He has promised to do. As Jeremiah 9:23-24 says, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight,’ declares the LORD.” Next time you hear someone bragging and acting full of themselves, remember this verse: “It isn’t the person who promotes himself or herself who is approved but the person whom the Lord commends.” (2 Corinthians 10:18 CEB) God Loves Ya 😉
No Self Boasting
