Luke 14:7-24
Beginning in the 20th century and continuing into today, names have been given to people that are born in a generational time frame. Some such names are; “Greatest generation, Baby boomers, Generations X, Y, and Z. When reading today’s scripture, it reminded me of another name that was given to the Baby Boom Generation which is the “ME” generation. The “Me” generation in the United States is a term referring to the self-involved, self-realization and self-fulfillment qualities that some people have associated with in that group. Unfortunately, it isn’t just some in this generation, but many in society today consider themselves far more important than their social responsibility. We don’t gain honor by being selfish or prideful, but by humbling ourselves and making others more important. “For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:12). As Christians, our job is not to have others notice us, but for others to notice Him – our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have to remember that in all we do we do it for the glory of God. We need to get ourselves out of the way and let the gospel and light of Christ shine. God loves Ya;)
