1 Peter 1:14
Not long ago, I met up with a group of girls I used to work with. They are a bunch of crazy, outgoing and fun ladies. Of course we had a blast, reminiscing about the “old days” and the shenanigans we got into. All of a sudden, I’m realizing, I’m conforming to all this foul language, the mindset of making fun of someone was funny and gossiping about another was exciting. I stopped in my tracks, “Oh my gosh, this isn’t who I am. I am not this person anymore. I have Christ in my heart and I am not acting like a child of God at all!” I felt so ashamed of my actions and embarrassed that I let myself get so caught up and so quickly, I excused myself and prayed for forgiveness of falling short and letting myself conform to the worldly ways that are so easy to get sucked into. Friends, I urge you to stay alert and mindful as to how you act and speak when you are around “old friends” that have not yet come to know the Lord. We are to be a witness to God and not fall backwards into our old selves. Have a blessed day! 🙂
