Philippians 2:3-4, James 2:14-17
In my line of work, I work with individuals who are over the age of 60; many of them in their 70s and 80s. Every day I am amazed with these individuals. They are from a generation of very strong and independent individuals. Many of them did whatever they had to do to get by and provide for family. Even though these individuals have a strong sense of independence, they also have a strong sense of community. Many of them would do anything to help another. I am truly shown by them how God wants us to treat and love one another. I see friends, neighbors and family members that will go check on someone every day to make sure they are alright, that will help with meals for someone that can no longer physically do so on their own, that will run to the grocery store because they can no longer drive themselves. In today’s scripture, God tells us to count others more significantly that ourselves. May we take the time out of our busy schedules to recognize the need of someone else and put their interests ahead of ours. God is good 😉
