Proverbs 12:18, Proverbs 15:1
I always have the radio or my iPod playing because God speaks to me through the music I listen to. The other day, a friend who’s struggling with life, said something without realizing how cruel it was or how much it hurt. My gut reaction was to fight back with hateful words. At that moment, one of my favorite songs came on the radio. In Toby Mac’s song “Speak Life” he sings; “Look into the eyes of the brokenhearted, watch them come alive as soon as you speak hope, you speak love, you speak life.” I chose to put aside my own anger and hurt to remind her that God was always with her. Every time we open our mouths, our words can build someone up or tear them down. Ephesians 4:29 (GWT) says, “Don’t say anything that would hurt another person. Instead, speak only what is good so that you can give help wherever it is needed. That way, what you say will help those who hear you.” Regardless of how people speak to us, we should always remember to show them kindness with our words. You never know whose heart you will change by speaking, life, love and the hope of God to them. God loves ya! 😉 – Karen Chappell
