Ephesians 6:10-18
Paul presents prayer as a weapon against the battles of evil in the realm of spiritual warfare. Paul knows that prayer is a necessity for those who would receive divine power. Paul gives us some clues on prayer. First, prayer is powerful. Second, Paul connects prayer directly to the armor of God. Paul uses prayer as a connecting point between current realities and divine realities. Prayer makes a difference in spiritual warfare. Walter Wink may have said it best, ““Prayer is never a private inner act disconnected from day-to-day realities. It is, rather, the interior battlefield where the decisive victory is won before any engagement in the outer world is even possible.” We already won the battle, prayer is an essential tool in the war, let us use it.
