Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
It’s been a couple years now that my brother and I had the dreaded conversation with our mom about letting us be her source of transportation. Reluctantly, she agreed and we have been her chauffeurs ever since. I know for her that decision was one of the hardest she has ever had to make; giving up her independence, relying on someone else to get her places. Today, my mom surrendered her driver’s license and now has an ID card to carry in her wallet. I asked her if she was okay when we walked out of the DMV and she replied,” It was time. I couldn’t drive anymore anyway. Just another end to another chapter”. My mom is 87 years old; she drove for 71 years with a flawless driving record. I was very humbled to say the least. She knew the time had come and didn’t question it or wallow in self-pity. I thanked God for my mom today. She taught me a valuable lesson and she didn’t even realize it. We all go through life writing new chapters and going through various seasons continually; but, if our faith and trust is strong in the Lord, we don’t question it or fall victim to it. We humble ourselves and gracefully accept it. Thanks mom! Have a blessed day! 🙂
