Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
If we read this scripture carefully, one might wonder why all these verses refer to either one or two people until the last sentence of the last verse (v.12) “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” I thought they were talking about one? No two?  Where did this third strand come from? Why doesn’t it say two strands? Simply, a cord of one strand is weak and one of two unravels; three is the minimum to have a strengthening effect.  The author gives us a progression from being alone (one) to having a partner (two) to being part of something larger (three). Three is the minimum number of strands to produce a cord that doesn’t just fall apart. The third strand is God and a couple that makes God number one in their relationship, is a relationship that is strong and can withstand a world that continuously tries to pull them apart. Make your relationship a part of something larger!! God loves Ya;)
