The Cover Up

Isaiah 1:18
I have this beauty trick I use frequently when I polish my nails. Once my nails are freshly polished, it only takes a matter of time until nicks appear and the polish starts to wear off. Instead of removing all of the polish and repainting every nail, I simply cover up the chips by painting over them with a fresh coat of polish. It is quick and the flaws are covered up nicely; but the fix doesn’t stick. It is only temporary and in a matter of time the flaws reappear. Just like our beauty flaws, we tend to cover up our sins. Living in a fallen world, it’s in our human nature not only to commit sin, but also to cover them up. When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid from God in the garden (Genesis 3:8). When we sin, we may hide, blame others, make excuses, ignore it or twist the truth. We can cover up a multitude of sins using these methods but the only sure way to rid our sins is to ask for forgiveness and repent (turn away from our sins). It is the blood of Christ that washes away ALL of our sins. Always pray that God will shed some light on the sins in your life and partner with Him to help you live right.  With Christ in your life, there is no need to take cover. By His Amazing Grace, YOU are forgiven. This is God’s beautiful promise and it sticks! – Melissa Lundy
