Matthew 18:12-14
Ever hear the saying “getting the hook”? The old reference for this saying was when a performer was doing badly on the stage; they would literally have a big hook made out of metal and reach from behind stage to yank them off. Our Lord has a hook too and it is on the end of his staff. Our shepherd doesn’t use His hook to pull us off the stage, but to bring us back in or draw closer to Him. We all have strayed away from God in one form or another and we can sense that pull, that uncomfortable feeling, or that nagging in our belly that says, “Things aren’t right”. That is God’s hook pulling his lost sheep back to Him where they belong. So if you feel that pull, tug, or nudge: don’t fight against it, go with it. “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). I thank God I “got the hook” many times and I pray I won’t need it again. God loves Ya;)
