โWhen we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.โ (James 3:3) After, reading this verse over and over it made me think of how true this is. I use to train show and harness racing horses and when you have the bit in their mouth, they would go where you steered them. How true is that of our tongues? If we allow our tongues to steer us in the wrong direction, it will lead us into a life of deceit and lies. I have said many things over the years that I wish I could take back. Not really knowing why I said the phrase in the first place. This leads me to this verse; โMy dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,โ (James 1:19) If we rush this process our tongues will get us in trouble and lead us into sin. We must be careful of what we say. I beg you to just listen and think about what you are going to say, for what you say might not be what you mean at all. God is listening when we speak.
