Jesus just prior to ascending into Heaven and to the right hand of the Father told his disciples, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another”. Friends, over the next several weeks we will look at how this verse should impact our closest relationships. As Jesus loved us, we are instructed to love one another. How did Jesus love us? He lived as an example. Jesus demonstrated his love by way of continual sacrifice. In the end, there was nothing including death that he was not willing to do in order to fully carry out His mission in this world. We too can demonstrate our love for our spouse, children, neighbors and co-workers in this same way. Jesus was not worried about what He was owed throughout His life but was singularly focused on His missions and had full and complete trust that the Father would care for him. Let me encourage you this week to love in this same way. Trust that God is caring for you and then abandon yourself to love others around you in a way that is an example, sacrificial, and willing to go any length to fulfill what God has called you to do.
