Psalm 130:7 (ESV)

Why is it so hard for us to understand the depths of God’s love for us? Why do we struggle to forgive others or to believe that God forgives even our worst sins, if we just confess and ask for His forgiveness? Maybe the answers aren’t in understanding why God does those things for us; but the answer really is that we have a hard time loving and forgiving ourselves, so we can’t fathom that God loves and forgives us unconditionally. Imagine if we could ask Jesus for the answers to those questions right now. I think his answer would probably sound something like this: “Cause I am for you – I’m not against you – If you wanna know how far my love can go – Just how deep, just how wide – If you wanna see how much you mean to me – Look at my hands, look at my side – If you could count the times I’d say you are forgiven – It’s more than the drops in the ocean.” (Hawk Nelson, Drops in the Ocean) We can celebrate and rest easy knowing that God’s love and forgiveness for us are unending.
