This scripture is a powerful reminder and goes much farther than the simple warning “Watch your tongue”. Not only may our words harm others, but they could also damage our credibility as witnesses to Jesus Christ. This often happens when we are quick to speak without regarding the consequences first. “The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.” (Proverbs 15:28) Before we speak, we should think about how Christ would want us to respond and the words he would want us to use. God is good 😉
