Ephesians 6:1-4
I think that most of us can remember the famous phrase uttered by Rodney King before the 1991 LA riots; “Can’t we all just get along?” I know many times within a family environment; those words can be heard or thought of by someone trying to keep the peace. Just like each one of us, families aren’t perfect! Everyone has quirks and oddities that just wear on someone’s nerves, no matter how close the relationship may be. We have to overlook and even accept others differences. We are all created for a purpose and have our own personalities. Our scripture today tells us to honor our family members. Honor means: Regard with great respect. We all want and need respect and God tells us if we respect our family members, we will be rewarded. That reward isn’t just a temporary thing but an eternal thing that brings honor to God and shows your faithfulness and obedience to Him. To answer Mr. King’s question, “Can’t we all just get along?” the answer is, with God, yes we can! God loves Ya;)
